Opening Day Needs
Opening Day - U-10 will have their first game on Saturday, Mar. 10th.
Some teams will meet for the first time on Opening day, but most will try and get a practice in before then.
What if I get lost or confused about where to go? - We will have a tent set up just below the Pavillion. This is be "Central Station" for "information". We will have poster boards of the field layouts. We will have the schedules with the teams listed. Once you know where your field is, you can find your team. (Make sure that before you leave on Saturday, you have had a TEAM meeting to make sure everyone knows about their once per week practice. What field, what
day and what time.)
What if my coach has not contacted me yet? You should have the phone number and e-mail of your coach on the Roster list. Feel free to contact them.
What if my team does not have a coach assigned yet? Show up for the game and we will have it worked out before Saturday or on Saturday. Everyone needs to come prepared to play.
Jerseys - Some may have their red and white reversibles from a previous season. If you are getting a
new jersey or are getting yours for the first time, the following applies:
You can pick up your jersey at the Uniform Room (only block building on the complex). It will be open
the week of Opening day on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 5:30 - 6:30 and on Saturday at 8:00 a.m. until game time.
Needs - You will need to purchase the following:
Socks and Shorts (you may already have shorts, any will do, but if you are concerned
about matching, we recommend black shorts and black socks), Cleats, Soccer Ball -
(U-5, U-6 size 3 - U-8 can use either size 3 or 4 - U-10 and U-12 need size 4), and
a small ball pump.
Game Times - We will have a schedule out that will be for the entire season. For Saturday,
this will be the game time and will be the same game time each Saturday.
U-10 Boys - 10:30 a.m.
U-10 Girls - 10:30 a.m.
(Schedules with game day field location will be e-mailed)
Arriving Early - Everyone needs to arrive at the fields at least 30 minutes to 45 minutes early. You need to have your child settled into their environment and allow the coach to get your team organized.
7 S’s - don’t forget your 7 S’s. Shirt, Shorts, Socks, Shinguards, Soccer Ball, Shoes, Squirt
Bottle
Soccer Balls - Please write your name and phone number on your soccer ball. At some point
you will need to purchase a small ball pump.
Lost and Found - is in the uniform room.
Concessions - will be open for your convenience
Water - Your child will need water for use at halftime and at the end of the game.
Where do parents sit? For U-8, U-10 and U-12 - Parents, please sit on the opposite side of the
field that the players are benched. U-5, U-6 players and parents can usually mix.
Chairs for Parents - Parents - we recommend you bring your own chairs for sitting and watching
the games. Please do not use our player benches.
Practice Time - We will be giving your contact information to your coach. If you have a practice day preference,
please let them know. It will be the decision of each team to set their one practice day per week and time.
If there is a serious schedule conflict, please let us know.
Practice Locations - U-5 and U-6 will practice on Fields 3a,3b,3c. U-8, U-10, U-12, U-14 will
practice on fields 4a, 4b, 5, 6, 7, 8. Field 1 and Field 2 are for Academy and Select.
End of Game Rituals - After each game, we have rituals that we want you to continue.
U-5, U-6 will create a Tunnel in the middle of the field for the players to run through
several times or until the parents lose blood supply to their arms.
U-8 and U-10 - after lining up and giving the other team Mid-Five’s, we will have the parents line up on
their sideline and the players will run together CLOCKWISE along the parents sideline and give them Mid-Fives.
U-12 and U-14 - after lining up and giving the other team Mid-Five’s, they will return to their bench and coach.
Weather - We never close our Soccer complex. If it looks like it is going to be an unbelievable storm, I will send an e-mail out 2 hours before the first game. I have only done that 1 time in 6 seasons. We will play even if it looks like it is going to just sprinkle. Many times it can be raining one one side of town and it may not rain at all on the soccer side of town. We will make calls from the field. "When in doubt, come on out"
Encouraging Fans - Parents, this is about the players. Please sit comfortably in your chair, relax
smile and enjoy watching your child play. Let the coaches coach, the referees ref, and the
players play. Your job is to be an encouraging Fan! Cheer positive words to not only your
child but for other parents children also. We want to create a relaxed atmosphere. Please
do not let your non-smiling emotions "wind-up". Leave your competitive self at the Falcons
or Braves game.
FUN! FUN! FUN! - We want the players to have fun. If the parents are having Fun, it usually spreads to the Children. Smile , Smile , and Smile . If you can’t, then at least try
